How to be happy without wanting

To build a Zen garden, have some peace. The reason why I am posting things is that sometimes you realised why you can’t enjoy life? Why is it that you need to arrange your tiny little balcony that you said is a garden(in fact it’s not) to the perfection.

There is nothing so perfect in this world and keep on wanting makes it even worse.

Death cleaning today

Have you think of what you are going to leave behind after you die? When we are born, there is nothing belongs to us. You acquire things along the way, then finding it hard to let go. Then you get emotional and keep things. Or sometimes, you’ve convinced yourself to keep something because someday, you are going to use it. Understanding what clutters are allow you to identify them and get rid of.

A. Things that don’t spark joy – keep those which are used appreciated and loved. Those have energies that are joyous and free flowing. Find things that are neglected, forgotten, unused and sometimes avoid. They cause stagnant energies. Get them out.

Effect: potentially weight gain and congest body.

Cause: couldn’t let go of fear, holding back emotionally

B. Things that are messy – letters lying for weeks, things that don’t have a place to stay. These creates stress in life where you do not know things are. Effect: possible cause of lethargic and tiredness conditions

Cause: stagnant energies stacked up

Effect: not possible to have clarity in life. Confuse you. You can’t find things easily and kept buying new ones.

Benefits of clearing out helps you think more clearly and have direction in your life. Make a place for every thing to stay.

C. Things that are unfinished like a repair job, button to be sew, plants to be tamed.

Effect: constant drain on energies

  • Keeps you bogged down from the past
  • Do not get enough exercise
  • those with less gets a twinkle in their eyes and radiant skin

D. Things that use someday. If you find yourself saying that you got to watch out.

Effect: cause conflict in the house, arguing about nothing. It even drains me thinking about my loved ones junk.

Just an update, the day I donated my stuffs to the Salvation Army, my husband found my earphones in his car, I thought that was lost.

Day 6 Added two more tiers to Hydroponics system

It’s circuit breaker, home becomes a farm

Ingredients

3 packs of leca (800 g at S$3.50) washed

Net cups

10L of Water (5L per section x 2)

Stickers

75ml A and 75ml B solutions (7.5 ml x 10 L)

Sunday is a good day to setup the rest of the system. I’ve bought the leca stones. Put them in the next cups. Fill the 3rd tier and 4tier with water (5L each)

For each tier, A solution in top tier followed by B solution into the 3rd tier. But since I’ve already setup two before, I have mixed 40 ml of each solution into one tier one after another.

Rightfully , 3 seeds per cup at 4th tier and 2nd tier, 2 seeds per cup at 3rd and 1st tier.

I’ve already prepared some seedlings which are too tiny for the net cups, so I tried not to cover them with leca. And covered the cups with plastic covers because I’m afraid mosquitoes will bread.

Let’s see how these plants will grow.

How to give Unconditional love

Ingredients

Unconditional love, simply put, is love without strings attached. It’s love you offer freely. You don’t base it on what someone does for you in return. You simply love them and want nothing more than their happiness. – Heath line

For those who grow up in oriental family, parents who are tough on you, critique you, ends you loving you with good intentions that you can succeed in life

My advice, don’t follow tough love, but start positive parenting.

2nd Hand Hydroponics

Since it’s going to be another mini circuit breaker, getting out in the hot sun is not a preferred mode to operate.

I’ve made an offer to buy a second hand hydroponics system to try out. I tried to follow the existing process after giving the system another wash. After one night, I decided to perform a pilot project, that is instead of four tier system, I will use two tier first and try with my existing plants. Tomatoes, Kang kong, Bak Choy before I plant the premium species.

Existing AB solution

Initially, I mixed the solution in a 2 litre milk bottle. Solution A with 14 ml, mixed with 2 litre water, then after awhile, add 14 ml of solution B.

Precautions

Things I fear: breeding mosquitoes so I seal up every possible entry for the bugs

What’s done is finished

“The monsoon in Thailand is from July to October. During this period, the monks stop travelling, put aside all work projects and devote themselves to
study and meditation. The period is called ‘Vassa’ or the ‘Rains Retreat’.
In the south of Thailand some years ago, a famous abbot was building a new hall in his forest monastery. When the Rains Retreat came, he stopped all work and sent the builders home. This was the time for quiet in his monastery.
A few days later a visitor came, saw the half-constructed building and asked the abbot when his hall would be fin- ished. Without hesitation, the old monk said, ‘The hall is finished.’
‘What do you mean, “The hall is finished”?’ the visitor replied, taken aback. ‘It hasn’t got a roof. There are no doors or windows. There are pieces of wood and cement bags all over the place. Are you going to leave it like that? Are you mad? What do you mean, “The hall is finished”?’
The old abbot smiled and gently replied, ‘What’s done is finished,’ and then he went away to meditate. That is the only way to have a retreat or to take a break. Otherwise our work is never finished.”

Opening the Door of Your Heart: And other Buddhist tales of happiness

by Ajahn Brahm

In projects, there are many phases. For school, there are many stages, P1- p6 and secondary and more. Work is never finished. Just think of what’s done, we are finished. Take a break. A completion of the hall is a finished section. Human chases the next big thing. I often caught myself planning for the next thing and never get peace.

‘“The smart gardener considers, ‘I’ve worked long enough, now is the time to enjoy the fruit of my work, to listen for the peace. So even though the lawn needs mowing and the leaves need raking and blah! blah! blah! NOT NOW.’ This way, we find the wisdom to enjoy the garden even though it’s not perfect.” Ajahn Brahm
